Divorce Mediation

Hargreaves & Taylor offers mediation with a choice of either an individual mediator or a team approach in which both an attorney and psychotherapist participate to bring couples past conflict to a position of agreement. Generally, couples participate in the mediation process without the presence of outside attorneys who may be advising or representing them. But, in mediation, there are no hard and fast "rules". Once they understand the law that would be applied to any given set of facts, couples are free to create their own settlement irrespective of how a judge might require an outcome based upon the application of the California Family Code.

If parties are willing to attempt mediation, they agree that what is discussed in the mediation process will not be used in any later court proceeding should mediation fail. Thus, mediation is a confidential process. Couples may elect to mediate even if they have begun a litigated proceeding. Mediation is also utilized for resolution of post-Judgment matters, negotiating pre-nuptial agreements, or negotiating separation agreements.
