J. William (Bill) Hargreaves

Bill Hargreaves is a Certified Family Law Specialist [CFLS] who has practiced Family Law in San Diego since 1973. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and received an LLM – Tax from USD Law School in 1990.

Bill is a past Chair of the Family Advisory Commission to the State Bar of California Board Of Legal Specialization; a past Member of the Board of Legal Specialization; a former Vice President and Director of the San Diego County Bar Association; past Chair of the CFLS Executive Committee of the County Bar; a former Director and Vice President of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program; and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been named as one of San Diego’s Top Lawyers by the San Diego Daily Transcript, San Diego Magazine and US News. He is named in Best Lawyers in America as one of San Diego’s “best” in the areas of Family Law and Family Law Mediation.

Bill has taken many complex divorce cases through trial and has extensive experience dealing with difficult financial issues, including those involving tracing, stock and stock options, restricted stock units and business valuation.

Bill is a partner in the law firm of Hargreaves & Taylor, LLP, and his practice is devoted to family law litigation, mediation, arbitration and private judging. When not working, he is an avid golfer, skier, hiker and mountaineer, having scaled to the summits of many mountains, including the highest peaks on four of the seven continents.
